Whiplash Injury Care & Recovery
When dealing with the aftermath of a car crash, there may be a seemingly endless number of things you need to worry about—one of the most common things being whiplash.
In trying to organize and recover from the experience of an auto accident, the last thing you want to do is worry about your neck and spinal health. Unfortunately, your neck, back, and spine can be a very real concern after a car crash.
Even if you are fortunate enough to avoid serious injury during the initial impact, whiplash can be a serious problem that may only manifest symptoms long after the actual injury or accident has been sustained.
Without proper treatment for whiplash, many individuals may experience a host of painful and even debilitating symptoms that can have a serious impact on their life and their mobility, both short and long-term.

Why chiropractic care for whiplash?
Chiropractic care is recommended for whiplash because of the nature of the injury. Whiplash occurs in the presence of sudden impact, forcing the cervical spine (neck area) forwards and then “whipping” it backwards rapidly.
Depending on the direction of the impact (front of the vehicle versus back of the vehicle during a car accident) this process can be reversed, pushing the cervical spine in the opposite direction. In either case, whiplash takes a toll on the neuromusculoskeletal system, which is exactly what chiropractic care specializes in treating.
When the cervical spine is subjected to unnatural force, the joints and discs of the spine can be misaligned and injured. Additionally, the muscles that hold the neck can be strained, causing them to tighten, knot, freeze, and pull painfully on ligaments and tendons.
Finally, the nerves that are local to the neck and cervical spine can be damaged in the event of whiplash—this can manifest as sharp neck and back pain following an accident, numbness and tingling, aching, or temperature-like pains that feel hot or cold.
Fortunately, chiropractic care serves as an ideal therapy to help aid the body’s natural healing process. Chiropractic care can release stuck or tight muscles, realign joints and bones, and relieve nerves that were previously crushed or bruised.
