Pediatric Care
At Fremont Spine + Wellness, our expert chiropractors work with children of all ages, from newborns to adulthood.
All newborns and children will experience a comprehensive pediatric care chiropractic examination and history assessment to determine the best course of care. Treatments for newborns and children are very gentle and focused on relieving areas of stress and subluxation (misalignment) to ensure full communication between the brain and body.
Children and infants are particularly responsive to chiropractic care, and often experience even more rapid results than adults. The neuromusculoskeletal system of infants and children is often more pliable and mobile than that of adults, and as such, adapts and heals quickly with regular chiropractic interventions.
Expert chiropractors who specialize in pediatric care are careful to administer gentle treatment, account for the speed at which children and infants respond to chiropractic care, and maintain both verbal and non-verbal communication with young patients to accurately assess their responses.
Why might a child or newborn need chiropractic care?
When children come into the world, their bodies are immediately subjected to various kinds of stressors. Even at birth, infants may be susceptible to spinal misalignment due to their fetal positions in-utero, a slow birth that compresses their small bodies into unsuitable positions for prolonged periods of time, or a c-section in which they may be extracted from the womb in a less-than optimal position.
As children begin to participate in regular childhood activities like skating or riding a bike, small yet significant spinal misalignments (known as subluxations) may occur due to falls, minor impacts, and normal childhood injuries that often appear to be no more than cuts or scrapes. If neglected, the injuries during this period of rapid growth may lead to more serious problems later in life. Subtle trauma throughout childhood often affects the future development of the spine, leading to impaired nervous system function. Interference to the vital nerve system can adversely affect the body’s ability to function at its best, and can lead to a series of inexplicable symptoms in adulthood such as chronic pain, migraine headaches, scoliosis, poor posture, sciatica, and more. One of the best interventions for boosting the health, wellness, and balance of infants and children is chiropractic care.
